The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), under the Quality Council of India (QCI), has launched a new Medical Application Portal designed for laboratories applying under ISO 15189:2022. The digital platform was unveiled at a virtual event titled “GOING LIVE”, marking a major step towards enhancing efficiency, ease, and transparency in the accreditation process.
The portal has been redesigned to reflect the actual workflow of medical laboratories, offering a simplified and user-friendly application process with reduced timelines and improved accuracy. Key features include a restructured application flow, standardized templates, a pre-registration checklist, multi-user access with defined roles, and an intuitive interface—enabling faster data entry, better oversight, and stronger accountability throughout the accreditation lifecycle.
Speaking at the launch, Shri Jaxay Shah, Chairperson, QCI, said the new portal will reduce processes that earlier took weeks or months to just two to three hours, calling it a major disruption in India’s quality ecosystem. He added that this technology-driven approach will soon be extended to other sectors to embed efficiency, innovation, and responsiveness across India’s quality journey.
Dr. Sandip Shah, Chairperson, NABL, described the initiative as a transformational step that brings greater transparency and ease of doing business for medical laboratories. He highlighted that the portal’s simplified features and multi-user functionality reflect NABL’s commitment to strengthening India’s quality ecosystem.
The new Medical Application Portal is expected to benefit hundreds of laboratories nationwide by providing a transparent, efficient, and intuitive digital platform for ISO 15189:2022 accreditation. The launch event featured a live demonstration, walkthrough of features, and an interactive Q&A session with participants from medical laboratories across the country.
