US imposes 27% reciprocal tariff on India

The United States has announced a 27% reciprocal tariff on Indian imports, citing New Delhi's high import duties on American goods. The decision, part of the Trump administration’s strategy to reduce the trade deficit and promote domestic manufacturing, is expected to impact India's exports to the US.

Despite the tariff hike, experts believe India is in a stronger position compared to its global competitors, who are also facing similar levies.

In a broader move to counter high import duties imposed on American products worldwide, President Trump has introduced reciprocal tariffs on around 60 countries.
