Sensex, Nifty flat; Asian Paints, Tata Steel top gainers

Indian stock markets opened higher on Thursday, reflecting cautious optimism amid reports suggesting that the US and India may soon finalize a trade deal to avert tariffs proposed by US President Donald Trump.



At 9:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83437.02 up by 27.33 points or by 0.03 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25465.05 up by 11.65 points or by 0.05 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83689.05 and intraday low of 83348.49 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25537.05 and intraday low of 25459.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2452.25,+1.34%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 168.10,+1.33%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3186.50,+0.69%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1619.15,+0.57%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 261.05,+0.48%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2136.95,-1.42%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 911.05,-1.26%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1993.90,-0.71%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 331.50,-0.63%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3693.10,-0.39%), among others.



Metal index was at 32452.83 up by 204.47 points or by 0.63%. Jindal Stainless Ltd. (Rs. 716.55,+1.80%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 68.95,+1.35%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 139.30,+1.35%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 168.10,+1.33%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 194.80,+1.25%),.



Power index was at 6832.23 down by -23.95 points or by -0.35%. Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 398.65,-1.92%), JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 512.95,-0.97%), Adani Green Energy Ltd. (Rs. 1010.80,-0.82%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 331.50,-0.63%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 587.80,-0.62%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3157 , shares advanced were 1728 while 1281 shares declined and 148 were unchanged.
