Post-Session: Markets end lower; HDFC Bank, foreign fund outflows drag

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty gave up early gains to close lower on Wednesday, weighed down by selling pressure in HDFC Bank, L&T, and Reliance Industries ahead of the upcoming US tariff deadline.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83409.69 down by -287.6 points or by -0.34 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25453.4 down by -88.4 points or by -0.35 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83935.01 and intraday low of 83150.77 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25608.1 and intraday low of 25378.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 165.90,+3.72%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2419.85,+2.15%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12400.00,+1.60%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12614.90,+1.38%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1680.00,+0.77%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 858.15,-2.41%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2010.00,-2.10%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3597.40,-1.89%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 922.65,-1.48%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1985.70,-1.30%), among others.



Metal index was at 32248.36 up by 458.9 points or by 1.44%. Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 165.90,+3.72%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 137.45,+3.11%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1060.90,+3.07%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 971.50,+2.43%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 192.40,+1.13%),.



Realty index was at 7521.17 down by -103.9 points or by -1.36%. Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 1057.95,-3.40%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1500.00,-3.05%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 553.80,-2.04%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1604.70,-1.98%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 830.00,-1.48%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4381 , shares advanced were 1929 while 2269 shares declined and 183 were unchanged.
