Mid-Session: Sensex dips 178 pts; Nifty below 25,500

Stock markets continued to consolidate for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, amid mixed global market sentiment.



At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83518.46 down by -178.83 points or by -0.21 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25495 down by -46.8 points or by -0.18 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83935.01 and intraday low of 83471.57 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25608.1 and intraday low of 25463.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 163.50,+2.22%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12428.00,+1.83%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 690.40,+0.94%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2037.70,+0.91%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1679.10,+0.71%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 860.85,-2.10%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2010.30,-2.09%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 919.45,-1.83%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3623.85,-1.17%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1992.00,-0.99%), among others.



Metal index was at 32178.46 up by 389 points or by 1.22%. JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1059.50,+2.93%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 163.50,+2.22%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 967.80,+2.04%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 193.15,+1.52%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 134.95,+1.24%),.



Realty index was at 7533.69 down by -91.38 points or by -1.2%. Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1499.00,-3.12%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 1074.35,-1.90%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 555.45,-1.75%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1608.90,-1.73%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 832.20,-1.22%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4148 , shares advanced were 1823 while 2143 shares declined and 182 were unchanged.
