Markets under pressure dragged by bank stocks

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty continued to trade lower on Monday after a four-day rally amid emergence of profit-taking, mainly in bank stocks.



At 10:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83774.82 down by -284.08 points or by -0.34 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25600 down by -37.8 points or by -0.15 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84099.53 and intraday low of 83734.82 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25669.35 and intraday low of 25543.7



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 817.60,+1.51%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3701.10,+0.60%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 862.00,+0.50%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1693.95,+0.35%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1444.20,+0.28%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2178.35,-1.34%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12511.50,-1.05%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2336.30,-0.97%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3176.00,-0.92%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2012.00,-0.78%), among others.



_CGS index was at 72113.83 up by 565.05 points or by 0.79%. SKF India Ltd. (Rs. 4790.00,+3.76%), Kaynes Technology India Ltd. (Rs. 6021.55,+2.70%), Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (Rs. 1941.45,+2.64%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 20460.00,+2.61%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 3252.00,+2.27%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3979 , shares advanced were 2310 while 1422 shares declined and 247 were unchanged.
