Sensex down 208 pts, Nifty holds 25k; autos gain

Indian stock markets opened on a subdued note today as investors opted to book profits following Thursday’s sharp rally. The previous session saw a boost in sentiment after U.S. President Donald Trump stated that India had proposed to eliminate all tariffs, suggesting a ‘zero tariff rate’ on American goods.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82321.76 down by -208.98 points or by -0.25 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25009.3 down by -52.8 points or by -0.21 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82514.81 and intraday low of 82230.51 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25070 and intraday low of 24984



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 705.80,+0.97%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1843.00,+0.47%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1611.50,+0.45%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1376.50,+0.40%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 772.85,-1.11%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 293.65,-0.81%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3077.40,-0.78%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12589.00,-0.65%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 235.25,-0.65%), among others.



CGS index was at 68694.64 up by 892.41 points or by 1.32%. Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. (Rs. 1046.30,+2.53%), Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 61.25,+2.22%), Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (Rs. 379.60,+1.82%), Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd. (Rs. 819.35,+1.51%), Grindwell Norton Ltd. (Rs. 1702.75,+1.16%),.



TECk index was at 18072.53 down by -167.85 points or by -0.92%. Tanla Platforms Ltd. (Rs. 559.00,-1.60%), PVR INOX Ltd. (Rs. 954.90,-1.16%), PB Fintech Ltd. (Rs. 1740.00,-0.82%), Bharti Hexacom Ltd. (Rs. 1692.05,-0.65%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1583.00,-0.60%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2710 , shares advanced were 1667 while 886 shares declined and 157 were unchanged.
