Post-Session: Sensex crashes 1,282-pts, Nifty at 24,578; IT, Auto, FMCG top drag

After recording their best session in over four years, Indian equity markets closed in the red on Tuesday, weighed down by renewed concerns over a possible escalation in the India-Pakistan conflict and uncertainties surrounding the outcome of US-China trade negotiations.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 81148.22 down by -1281.68 points or by -1.55 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24578.35 down by -346.35 points or by -1.39 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82572.81 and intraday low of 81043.69 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24973.8 and intraday low of 24547.5



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1700.35,+0.84%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1369.50,+0.48%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 9042.55,+0.29%), State Bank of India (Rs. 801.90,+0.04%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1573.10,+0.03%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1569.10,-3.54%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 298.55,-3.40%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 231.75,-3.38%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1620.50,-2.94%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3515.95,-2.88%), among others.

CGS index was at 65952.78 up by 678.34 points or by 1.04%. Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (Rs. 1744.85,+11.16%), Schaeffler India Ltd. (Rs. 3948.05,+5.89%), Kaynes Technology India Ltd. (Rs. 6286.50,+5.14%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 335.75,+4.01%), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (Rs. 4609.05,+3.81%),.



TECk index was at 17782.46 down by -435.2 points or by -2.39%. Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1569.10,-3.54%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1620.50,-2.94%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3515.95,-2.88%), Bharti Hexacom Ltd. (Rs. 1704.40,-2.77%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1820.95,-2.74%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4334 , shares advanced were 2697 while 1470 shares declined and 167 were unchanged.
