Sensex, Nifty under pressure; IT, financials, FMCG down

Indian benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and Nifty50 were muted at open on Tuesday, a day after the markets saw the best session in over four years, on Monday.



At 9:35 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82037.06 down by -392.84 points or by -0.48 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24782.5 down by -142.2 points or by -0.57 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82572.81 and intraday low of 81483.27 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24973.8 and intraday low of 24780.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1721.75,+2.11%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 798.50,+1.25%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 9085.75,+0.77%), State Bank of India (Rs. 807.15,+0.69%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 152.10,+0.36%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1597.50,-1.80%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 236.00,-1.61%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 305.00,-1.31%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1650.80,-1.13%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3580.00,-1.11%), among others.



HCS index was at 42245.73 up by 646.44 points or by 1.55%. Suven Life Sciences Ltd. (Rs. 158.95,+4.02%), Eris Lifesciences Ltd. (Rs. 1457.55,+3.96%), Dishman Carbogen Amcis Ltd. (Rs. 203.10,+3.83%), Blue Jet Healthcare Ltd (Rs. 762.35,+3.83%), RPG Life Sciences Ltd. (Rs. 2165.75,+3.58%),.



IT index was at 37156.39 down by -370.83 points or by -0.99%. Happiest Minds Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 597.95,-1.88%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1597.50,-1.80%), Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd. (Rs. 8573.20,-1.63%), Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services Ltd. (Rs. 361.30,-1.45%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 253.90,-1.36%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3240 , shares advanced were 2144 while 929 shares declined and 167 were unchanged.
