Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open higher on May 12, taking cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 24,559 earlier this morning.
On May 9, the Indian markets extended losses for a second consecutive session, weighed down by escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, despite favorable global signals.
However, with the recent understanding between the two countries largely holding—despite minor violations following the May 7 announcement—markets may find some relief.
Going forward, investor sentiment will be influenced by fourth-quarter earnings, ongoing US-China trade negotiations over the weekend, and other global market factors.

On the global front, Asian markets were trading higher in the early Monday trade, as China and the US made “substantial progress” on their trade talks, spurring a risk-on mode.
US stocks ended the week on a quiet note on Friday after oscillating between slight gains and declines, as investors gauged President Donald Trump's comments on Chinese tariffs ahead of weekend trade talks between the two countries.
