Sensex slips over 1000 pts as India, Pak tensions escalate

Indian equity markets tumbled on Friday as both benchmarks fell 1 per cent each after tensions between Indian and Pakistan worsened late on Thursday.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 79326.15 down by -1008.66 points or by -1.26 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24005.05 down by -268.75 points or by -1.11 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80032.93 and intraday low of 78968.34 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24164.25 and intraday low of 23935.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3488.85,+3.73%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 707.15,+3.70%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3422.50,+3.07%), State Bank of India (Rs. 773.55,+0.62%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1388.05,-3.20%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 299.05,-2.86%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11324.10,-2.62%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1299.00,-2.33%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 8620.90,-2.24%), among others.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4107 , shares advanced were 999 while 2931 shares declined and 177 were unchanged.
