Sensex, Nifty in red; auto, banks shine, FMCG down

Indian benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and Nifty were trading lower on Wednesday, after India retaliated by striking nine targets located in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir.



Indian forces struck terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, May 6 night, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack.



According to a Ministry of Defence (MoD) statement, a total of nine sites were targeted by the Indian armed forces, in an operation called 'Operation Sindoor' on the intervening night of May 6 and 7.



At 9:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80608.54 down by -32.53 points or by -0.04 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24356.25 down by -23.35 points or by -0.1 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 80844.63 and intraday low of 79937.48 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24449.6 and intraday low of 24220



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 670.45,+3.50%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 8865.00,+0.77%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 309.65,+0.63%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2085.00,+0.54%), State Bank of India (Rs. 778.10,+0.51%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2380.35,-1.56%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 337.65,-1.20%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1798.15,-1.13%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3299.00,-1.06%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1566.00,-0.83%), among others.



Auto index was at 51187.86 up by 286.17 points or by 0.56%. Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 670.45,+3.50%), Sundram Fasteners Ltd. (Rs. 931.75,+1.57%), Bharat Forge Ltd. (Rs. 1098.00,+1.19%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 136.80,+1.07%), UNO Minda Ltd. (Rs. 913.65,+1.06%),.



Realty index was at 6576.46 down by -53.6 points or by -0.81%. Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1234.45,-2.45%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1468.05,-2.03%), Signatureglobal (India) Ltd. (Rs. 1114.35,-1.63%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 436.70,-1.44%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 669.60,-1.05%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3304 , shares advanced were 963 while 2199 shares declined and 142 were unchanged.
