Mid-Session: Sensex up 255 points; Bank drags; FMCG, Auto gain

Domestic bourses continued to trade higher during the noon trading session supported by buying in index heavyweights including Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. Mahindra & Mahindra LtdBajaj Finserv Ltd.Eternal Ltd. and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd mong others.



At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80757.45 up by 255.46 points or by 0.32 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24454.5 up by 107.8 points or by 0.44 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81049.03 and intraday low of 80657.71 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24526.4 and intraday low of 24400.65



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1360.85,+7.40%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3002.65,+2.47%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2005.25,+2.47%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 239.50,+2.24%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 310.00,+1.96%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2072.70,-5.14%), State Bank of India (Rs. 788.00,-1.51%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1166.50,-1.32%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 845.65,-0.77%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1427.40,-0.30%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 27117.2 up by 442.2 points or by 1.66%. Adani Total Gas Ltd. (Rs. 674.40,+12.57%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 409.60,+6.44%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 201.05,+4.20%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 323.70,+4.07%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 147.50,+2.90%),.

Bankex index was at 61978.42 down by -730.81 points or by -1.17%. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2071.40,-5.20%), State Bank of India (Rs. 788.00,-1.51%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1166.70,-1.31%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 846.30,-0.70%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1426.80,-0.35%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4234 , shares advanced were 2546 while 1465 shares declined and 223 were unchanged.
