Mid-Session: Nifty, MidCap indices slip in red; pharma, metal stocks under pressure

Benchmarks Sensex and Nifty50 pared early gains on Friday pulled by pharma and metal stocks.



At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80246.75 up by 4.51 points or by 0.01 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24242.75 down by -91.45 points or by -0.38 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81177.93 and intraday low of 80168.59 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24589.15 and intraday low of 24238.5



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1267.95,+4.19%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 851.55,+1.56%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12374.50,+0.93%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 234.60,+0.90%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 649.05,+0.76%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2335.00,-2.11%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 348.75,-1.62%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1835.20,-1.53%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1925.10,-1.40%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2176.90,-1.31%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 26561.43 up by 70.23 points or by 0.27%. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 142.85,+3.59%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 195.70,+1.58%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 382.55,+1.02%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1416.25,+0.56%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 311.00,+0.27%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4101 , shares advanced were 1700 while 2204 shares declined and 197 were unchanged.
