Sensex, Nifty surge on hopes of India-US trade deal, FII buying

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty continued to trade higher on Friday amid optimism surrounding a potential India-US trade deal, record high GST collection in April, and continuous foreign fund inflows.



Moreover, a firm trend in global markets also added to the optimism in equities.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80975.47 up by 733.23 points or by 0.91 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24520.7 up by 186.5 points or by 0.77 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81177.93 and intraday low of 80235.36 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24589.15 and intraday low of 24305.85



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1287.85,+5.82%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12658.20,+3.24%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 238.90,+2.75%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 658.15,+2.17%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 855.30,+2.01%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2353.05,-1.36%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1941.15,-0.58%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3364.30,-0.35%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2333.80,-0.32%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2204.80,-0.05%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 26908.47 up by 417.27 points or by 1.58%. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 143.75,+4.24%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 387.75,+2.39%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 197.25,+2.39%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 316.50,+2.05%), Adani Total Gas Ltd. (Rs. 611.50,+2.03%),.



CDS index was at 57365.65 down by -88.98 points or by -0.15%. Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 331.30,-1.65%), Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 1682.55,-1.30%), Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 1239.60,-0.97%), Havells India Ltd. (Rs. 1589.00,-0.82%), Supreme Industries Ltd. (Rs. 3517.85,-0.57%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3833 , shares advanced were 2350 while 1251 shares declined and 232 were unchanged.
