Pre-Session: GIFT Nifty indicates a flat start; US, Asian markets gain

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a positive note on May 2, taking cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 24,427.50 earlier this morning.



In the previous session, Sensex and Nifty 50 closed nearly flat after a volatile day, weighed down by ongoing geopolitical tensions and cautious guidance from Bajaj Finance.



On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 80242.24 down by -46.14 points or by -0.06 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24334.2 down by -1.75 points or by -0.01 %.



On the global front, Asian stocks edged up and US equity-index futures reversed losses Friday after China said it’s evaluating possible US trade talks, boosting optimism that tariff tensions will tamp down.



Wall Street stocks rallied and gold prices slid on Thursday as solid earnings from big tech bolstered investor risk appetite.



All three major U.S. stock indexes began the month with solid gains, with upbeat quarterly results from Meta Platforms and Microsoft benefiting the Nasdaq most, sending the tech-laden index up 1.5%.



The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 83.42 points, or 0.21%, to 40,752.78, the S&P 500 rose 35.04 points, or 0.63%, to 5,604.11 and the Nasdaq Composite rose 264.40 points, or 1.52%, to 17,710.74.

The FIIs on 30/04/2025 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 15694.08 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 114.54 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 13342.85 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1160.19 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 2351.23 Crore and Rs. -1045.65
