Sensex, Nifty volatile; Asian Paints, HUL top losers

Indian benchmark indices were directionless today as it swung between negative and positive territory during the late noon trading session.



At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73412.99 down by -98.86 points or by -0.13 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22264.75 down by -37.75 points or by -0.17 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73684.93 and intraday low of 73073.92 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22368.65 and intraday low of 22185.2



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 301.70,+2.18%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 1008.10,+2.01%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 354.55,+1.58%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3477.70,+1.31%), State Bank of India (Rs. 812.35,+1.30%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2833.10,-2.69%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2329.05,-2.12%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 9523.35,-1.70%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1309.50,-1.59%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1484.90,-1.43%), among others.



PSU index was at 19706.94 up by 349.88 points or by 1.81%. Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 223.35,+7.59%), REC Ltd. (Rs. 532.95,+5.16%), NBCC (India) Ltd. (Rs. 135.10,+5.14%), Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 439.40,+4.17%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 200.75,+4.15%),.



IT index was at 34075.98 down by -234.4 points or by -0.68%. Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 547.15,-14.16%), Cressanda Railway Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 13.99,-3.91%), Protean eGov Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1186.00,-2.43%), InfoBeans Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 427.55,-2.01%), Quick Heal Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 463.85,-1.76%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4090 , shares advanced were 2108 while 1811 shares declined and 171 were unchanged.
