Sensex down 356 points; Asian Paints, HUL top losers

Indian benchmark index was trading lower during the morning deals weighed down by selling in index heavyweights including Asian Paints Ltd, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. HCL Technologies Ltd, HDFC Bank Ltd. and IndusInd Bank Ltd. among others.



At 10:35 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73155.09 down by -356.76 points or by -0.49 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22224.3 down by -78.2 points or by -0.35 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73418.14 and intraday low of 73073.92 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22291.8 and intraday low of 22185.6



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 165.60,+0.85%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 351.70,+0.76%), State Bank of India (Rs. 806.25,+0.54%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 993.40,+0.53%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2817.90,+0.50%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2845.35,-2.27%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2329.90,-2.09%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1313.25,-1.31%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1486.95,-1.29%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1434.20,-1.27%), among others.



_PSU index was at 19575.14 up by 218.08 points or by 1.13%. REC Ltd. (Rs. 532.85,+5.14%), NBCC (India) Ltd. (Rs. 134.40,+4.59%), Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 438.35,+3.92%), Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 215.00,+3.56%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 198.05,+2.75%),.



CDS index was at 51889.41 down by -459.62 points or by -0.88%. Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 1305.80,-5.95%), Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. (Rs. 249.80,-1.34%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3241.65,-1.06%), Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 1427.70,-0.95%), Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 1441.35,-0.79%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3669 , shares advanced were 1924 while 1574 shares declined and 171 were unchanged.
