Post-Session: Sensex declines 384 pts, Nifty nears 22,300

Equity benchmark indices declined on Tuesday dragged by HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank amid concerns over rich valuation of equities.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 73511.85 down by -383.69 points or by -0.52 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22302.5 down by -140.2 points or by -0.62 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74026.8 and intraday low of 73259.26 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22499.05 and intraday low of 22232.05



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2379.60,+5.51%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1292.20,+2.37%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2508.55,+2.06%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3974.05,+1.36%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 440.40,+1.33%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 295.25,-3.80%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1452.60,-3.05%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 988.20,-2.72%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 858.70,-2.41%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1330.75,-2.13%), among others.



_FMCG index was at 20055.67 up by 353.74 points or by 1.8%. Jyothy Labs Ltd. (Rs. 456.80,+10.19%), Marico Ltd. (Rs. 583.35,+9.85%), Kokuyo Camlin Ltd. (Rs. 164.10,+6.87%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2379.60,+5.51%), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (Rs. 1319.25,+5.48%),.



Realty index was at 7493.89 down by -264.96 points or by -3.41%. Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1824.05,-6.10%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1475.00,-5.22%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 2971.00,-4.41%), Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1118.90,-4.08%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 856.85,-3.40%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4158 , shares advanced were 1198 while 2824 shares declined and 136 were unchanged.
