Sensex drops 341 pts, Nifty tests 22,400

Indian benchmark indices continued to hover in red during the morning deals amid selling seen in index heavyweights including Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, HCL Technologies Ltd, JSW Steel Ltd, ICICI Bank Ltd, IndusInd Bank Ltd. among others.



At 10:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73554.42 down by -341.12 points or by -0.46 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22398.6 down by -44.1 points or by -0.2 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74026.8 and intraday low of 73553.69 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22499.05 and intraday low of 22376



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2354.95,+4.42%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2515.15,+2.33%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 443.50,+2.05%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1537.90,+0.54%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2945.00,+0.44%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 300.40,-2.12%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1331.30,-2.09%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 866.50,-1.53%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1131.75,-1.48%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1481.15,-1.15%), among others.



FMCG index was at 20130.08 up by 428.15 points or by 2.17%. Marico Ltd. (Rs. 568.00,+6.96%), Jyothy Labs Ltd. (Rs. 442.30,+6.69%), Dabur India Ltd. (Rs. 558.70,+5.25%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2354.95,+4.42%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 592.00,+4.26%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3710 , shares advanced were 1411 while 2127 shares declined and 172 were unchanged.
