Sensex, Nifty firm; Tech Mahindra, ITC soar

Equity benchmark indices opened in green on Friday supported by buying in index heavyweights including Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, Ultratech Cement, IndusInd Bank, JSW Steel, Sun Pharma, NTPC, ITC, and HDFC Bank among others.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74430.35 up by 90.91 points or by 0.12 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22582.85 up by 12.5 points or by 0.06 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74515.91 and intraday low of 74351.79 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22620.4 and intraday low of 22575.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1337.95,+12.42%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 472.40,+2.47%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 169.30,+1.01%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1525.85,+1.01%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1515.55,+0.79%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 6829.00,-6.37%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1610.95,-2.71%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2535.75,-1.05%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2074.65,-1.00%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 291.65,-0.49%), among others.

IT index was at 34897.14 up by 511.42 points or by 1.49%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1335.60,+12.23%), Zensar Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 620.00,+7.79%), Magellanic Cloud Ltd. (Rs. 551.70,+5.00%), MphasiS Ltd. (Rs. 2320.40,+3.90%), MosChip Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 162.58,+3.77%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3115 , shares advanced were 2032 while 984 shares declined and 99 were unchanged.
