Pre-Session: GIFT Nifty indicates a weak start amid mixed global cues

The benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices are likely to open on a negative note on April 25 as trends in the GIFT Nifty indicate a weak start for the broader index with a loss of 61.50 points.



On the result front, among individual stocks, Hindustan Unilever, Axis Bank, LTIMindtree, Indian Hotels, AU Small Finance Bank are expected to react to Q4 earnings today.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 73852.94 up by 114.49 points or by 0.16 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22402.4 up by 34.4 points or by 0.15 %.



On the global front, Overnight, in US market ended on a flat note, but futures declined up to 1 per cent in post market trade as Meta stock plunged 16 per cent on weaker-than-expected revenue guidance.



Tonight, apart from the big tech earnings, US investors will also seek direction the GDP numbers.



Near home this morning, Nikkei, Straits Times, Taiwan and Kospi were down around 1 per cent each.



Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Tata Steel Ltd. 59894921.00, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. 19324163.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 11775700.00, HDFC Bank Ltd. 11220790.00, NTPC Ltd. 11132307.00,



On NSE, total number of shares traded was 495.31 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 103160.75 Crore.



On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 427954 with a total turnover of Rs. 39507.62 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 3268470 with a total turnover of Rs. 283549.26 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 516249989 with a total turnover of Rs. 39839993.73 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 5980193 with a total turnover of Rs. 551316.91 Crore.



The FIIs on 24/04/2024 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 15040.45 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 753.47 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 18498.57 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 2629.00 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -3458.12 Crore and Rs. -1875.53
