Post-Session: Sensex extends gain to 4th day, Nifty ends above 22,400

Equity benchmark indices ended Wednesday's range-bound session with slim gains as selling pressure in information technology (IT) stocks intensified in the fag-end.



Tech M, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, HCL Tech, and Wipro were among the top 10 losers. Other laggards included heavyweights like Reliance Industries, Titan Company, Maruti Suzuki, and Bharti Airtel.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 73852.94 up by 114.49 points or by 0.16 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22402.4 up by 34.4 points or by 0.15 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74121.61 and intraday low of 73788.61 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22476.45 and intraday low of 22384



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 883.00,+3.72%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 165.50,+2.73%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 290.00,+1.75%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1843.05,+1.64%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 9672.00,+1.48%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1186.10,-1.17%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3831.25,-1.11%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12900.00,-0.72%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1431.85,-0.68%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2900.60,-0.61%), among others.



Metal index was at 31056.03 up by 853.95 points or by 2.83%. Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 164.70,+8.18%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 248.00,+5.76%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 636.30,+3.99%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 883.00,+3.72%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 165.50,+2.73%),.

TECk index was at 15932.65 down by -132.03 points or by -0.82%. Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Rs. 13.09,-9.03%), Tata Elxsi Ltd. (Rs. 7035.10,-4.85%), Indus Towers Ltd. (Rs. 348.20,-3.18%), Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 140.10,-2.51%), Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 3466.15,-1.78%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4168 , shares advanced were 2377 while 1650 shares declined and 141 were unchanged.
