Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty in green; JSW Steel, Tata Steel, PowerGrid top gainers

Domestic bourses continued to trade higher during the noon trading session supported by buying in index heavyweights JSW Steel Ltd, Tata Steel Ltd, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, UltraTech Cement Ltd. NTPC Ltd among others.



At 12:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74017.39 up by 278.94 points or by 0.38 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22455.05 up by 87.05 points or by 0.39 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74121.61 and intraday low of 73861.91 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22476.45 and intraday low of 22399.85



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 881.50,+3.55%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 166.45,+3.32%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 290.75,+2.02%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 9678.00,+1.54%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 351.40,+1.30%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3848.00,-0.68%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3606.20,-0.65%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1192.85,-0.60%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1434.50,-0.50%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2255.05,-0.34%), among others.



Metal index was at 31113.88 up by 911.8 points or by 3.02%. Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 164.40,+7.98%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 245.20,+4.56%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 883.70,+3.81%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 943.00,+3.65%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 166.65,+3.45%),.



TECk index was at 15986.76 down by -77.92 points or by -0.49%. Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Rs. 13.33,-7.37%), Tata Elxsi Ltd. (Rs. 7036.45,-4.83%), Indus Towers Ltd. (Rs. 351.00,-2.41%), Tejas Networks Ltd. (Rs. 1065.35,-1.98%), Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 141.10,-1.81%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3998 , shares advanced were 2495 while 1328 shares declined and 175 were unchanged.
