Post-Session: Sensex ends 560 pts up, Nifty tops 22,300

The Indian equity indices extended gains for the second straight session on April 22 following positive global cues as worries over Iran-Israel tensions eased a bit.



Market started gap-up and remained rangebound with positive bias throughout the session and closed near the day's high on buying across sectors.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 73648.62 up by 560.29 points or by 0.77 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22336.4 up by 189.4 points or by 0.86 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73767.8 and intraday low of 73227.32 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22375.65 and intraday low of 22198.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3613.30,+2.67%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1054.00,+2.38%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7290.70,+2.36%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 9563.10,+2.09%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 461.95,+2.01%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 343.05,-2.24%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1512.30,-1.24%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 855.10,-1.17%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1476.40,-0.46%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 161.85,-0.15%), among others.



CDS index was at 53709.32 up by 1325.69 points or by 2.53%. Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 1382.90,+6.34%), Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 1523.85,+5.51%), VIP Industries Ltd. (Rs. 536.20,+4.43%), Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. (Rs. 241.55,+4.39%), Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. (Rs. 7823.95,+3.88%),.



Metal index was at 30320.43 down by 76.58 points or by 0.25%. Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 380.75,-1.32%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 855.10,-1.17%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 919.45,-0.86%), APL Apollo Tubes Ltd. (Rs. 1547.30,-0.50%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 161.85,-0.15%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4306 , shares advanced were 2720 while 1404 shares declined and 182 were unchanged.
