Sensex surges 472 points; Consumer Durables shine

Domestic bourses continued to trade higher during the noon trading session supported by buying in index heavyweights including Axis Bank Ltd. Larsen & Toubro Ltd. UltraTech Cement Ltd. Bajaj Finance Ltd and ICICI Bank Ltd among others.



At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73560.84 up by 472.51 points or by 0.65 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22281.8 up by 134.8 points or by 0.61 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 73728.18 and intraday low of 73227.32 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22337.1 and intraday low of 22198.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1055.90,+2.56%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3602.90,+2.38%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 9565.00,+2.11%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7266.00,+2.02%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1086.00,+1.84%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 343.05,-2.24%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 855.25,-1.16%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1515.90,-1.01%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1480.65,-0.17%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 424.70,-0.02%), among others.

CDS index was at 53754.81 up by 1371.18 points or by 2.62%. Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 1383.75,+6.41%), Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 1523.60,+5.49%), VIP Industries Ltd. (Rs. 535.20,+4.24%), Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. (Rs. 241.00,+4.15%), Havells India Ltd. (Rs. 1562.00,+4.04%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4242 , shares advanced were 2719 while 1335 shares declined and 188 were unchanged.
