Sensex plunges 450 pts, Nifty tests 21,850 amid Iran-Israel tensions

Equity markets started the day under selling pressure on Friday as tensions flared up in the Middle East with Israel likely striking Iran at three locations.



At 9:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 72037.4 down by -451.59 points or by -0.62 % and then NSE Nifty was at 21846.35 down by -149.5 points or by -0.68 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 72100.57 and intraday low of 71816.46 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 21870.95 and intraday low of 21777.65



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 422.25,+0.79%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1274.00,+0.54%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1500.20,+0.37%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2217.50,+0.12%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1055.95,+0.05%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1002.00,-2.16%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1436.35,-2.13%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1446.30,-1.88%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1395.50,-1.76%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 954.65,-1.72%), among others.



FMCG index was at 18955.68 up by -67.48 points or by -0.35%. Avanti Feeds Ltd. (Rs. 507.10,+1.99%), Kokuyo Camlin Ltd. (Rs. 127.15,+1.52%), Manorama Industries Ltd. (Rs. 536.95,+1.38%), Foods & Inns Ltd. (Rs. 168.45,+1.11%), Kaveri Seed Company Ltd. (Rs. 694.05,+1.03%),.



Realty index was at 7207.8 down by -128.78 points or by -1.76%. Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 3047.80,-3.47%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1564.10,-2.98%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 837.80,-2.13%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1371.45,-2.10%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 1015.75,-1.87%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3171 , shares advanced were 876 while 2177 shares declined and 118 were unchanged.
