Mid-Session: Sensex surges 439 points; Nifty nears 22,300

Indian equity markets extended gains during the noon trading session amid gains seen in index heavyweights including Bharti Airtel Ltd.,Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. , Tata Steel Ltd. Infosys Ltd. among others.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73383.49 up by 439.81 points or by 0.6 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22307.65 up by 159.75 points or by 0.72 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73473.05 and intraday low of 72888.94 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22326.5 and intraday low of 22153.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1279.80,+5.19%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 284.35,+3.64%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2078.85,+2.36%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 163.30,+2.03%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1433.30,+1.31%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2461.95,-3.34%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1035.45,-1.65%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3631.45,-0.43%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 424.65,-0.31%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 6937.20,-0.15%), among others.



TECk index was at 15941.3 up by 272.78 points or by 1.74%. Just Dial Ltd. (Rs. 1015.40,+13.58%), Indus Towers Ltd. (Rs. 350.00,+5.15%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1277.45,+4.99%), Network18 Media & Investments Ltd. (Rs. 89.60,+4.53%), Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Rs. 13.43,+3.95%),.



FMCG index was at 19219.66 down by 4.43 points or by 0.02%. Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2463.90,-3.27%), M K Proteins Ltd. (Rs. 10.95,-1.97%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd. (Rs. 2592.00,-1.51%), Dodla Dairy Ltd. (Rs. 897.50,-1.03%), Vadilal Industries Ltd. (Rs. 4099.90,-0.94%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4044 , shares advanced were 2676 while 1198 shares declined and 170 were unchanged.
