Sensex down 295 points; Nifty nears 22,200; broader indices gain

After starting lower equity markets amid escalation in the Iran-Israel war, the benchmark indices were off lows in intraday deals lifted by Maruti Suzuki, M&M, Nestle India, and Titan Company.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73104.28 down by -295.5 points or by -0.4 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22190.8 down by -81.7 points or by -0.37 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73135.43 and intraday low of 72814.15 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22213.75 and intraday low of 22103.85



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2570.55,+0.73%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3627.75,+0.73%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 161.90,+0.62%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 1001.40,+0.27%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2053.00,+0.13%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1628.00,-1.77%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1513.25,-1.66%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1446.10,-1.51%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 6975.80,-1.40%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 9395.65,-1.12%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 28860.61 up by 501.97 points or by 1.77%. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 291.10,+4.06%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 170.30,+2.28%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 208.35,+2.26%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 477.45,+2.16%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 311.15,+2.02%),.



Realty index was at 7340.85 down by -71.8 points or by -0.97%. Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1162.60,-2.99%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1199.55,-1.56%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 872.50,-1.40%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2613.30,-1.33%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1575.75,-0.90%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3714 , shares advanced were 2333 while 1207 shares declined and 174 were unchanged.
