Sensex down 459 pts; FMCG, Oil & Gas stocks weigh

Concerned with flaring tensions in the Middle East, equity markets continued to hover in red during the morning deals.

At 10:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73785.58 down by -459.32 points or by -0.62 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22367.8 down by -151.6 points or by -0.67 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73785.58 and intraday low of 73315.16 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22385.4 and intraday low of 22263.55



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 877.10,+1.23%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2560.25,+0.95%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 4018.00,+0.44%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 164.15,+0.40%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12320.35,+0.37%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 999.30,-1.87%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1085.85,-1.66%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2196.85,-1.62%), State Bank of India (Rs. 757.25,-1.24%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1227.05,-1.22%), among others.



Metal index was at 30700.31 up by 351.89 points or by 1.16%. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 622.20,+4.13%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 382.40,+2.49%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 911.30,+1.55%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 242.40,+1.53%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 877.10,+1.23%),.



_FMCG index was at 19125.07 down by -208.97 points or by -1.08%. HMA Agro Industries Ltd. (Rs. 65.74,-4.57%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd. (Rs. 73.80,-3.23%), GRM Overseas Ltd. (Rs. 134.00,-3.00%), Radico Khaitan Ltd. (Rs. 1718.00,-2.84%), Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd. (Rs. 43.53,-2.83%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3959 , shares advanced were 786 while 3005 shares declined and 168 were unchanged.
