Sensex off lows, down 587 pts; Nifty below 22,350

Equity markets experienced significant declines on Monday morning due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.



At 9:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73656.93 down by -587.97 points or by -0.79 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22325.2 down by -194.2 points or by -0.86 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73727.44 and intraday low of 73315.16 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22373.55 and intraday low of 22308.6



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 4047.90,+1.19%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2552.50,+0.64%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1527.65,+0.45%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1489.20,+0.28%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 994.20,-2.37%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 160.75,-1.68%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 270.70,-1.64%), State Bank of India (Rs. 755.00,-1.53%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1516.90,-1.48%), among others.



TECk index was at 16229.86 up by 34.03 points or by 0.21%. Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Rs. 13.23,+2.08%), Indus Towers Ltd. (Rs. 331.30,+1.19%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 4047.90,+1.19%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1527.65,+0.45%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1489.20,+0.28%),.



Power index was at 6871.68 down by -155.59 points or by -2.21%. Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 40.09,-5.00%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 88.72,-3.78%), Adani Green Energy Ltd. (Rs. 1825.00,-3.16%), Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 1038.10,-3.00%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 426.00,-2.53%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3223 , shares advanced were 416 while 2676 shares declined and 131 were unchanged.
