On the corporate front, Paytm hit another 5 per cent upper circuit in intra-day deals a day after its founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma stepped down as part-time non-executive Chairman of Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL).
Meanwhile, IT stocks surged, with TCS rallying nearly 2 percent after a rating upgrade by UBS. Canara Bank rose about 1 percent after its board approved a 1:5 stock split.
